Lusaka, Zambia – April 28, 2025 — A bold new voice in African hip hop emerges as Zambian artist JD Sibanji announces the release of his debut album, Rise Up, dropping on May 25th — a symbolic date shared with African Freedom Day. With this powerful first offering, JD Sibanji delivers a conscious blend of Afrobeat rhythms and classic old-school hip hop, paying homage to the giants of African liberation.

Rise Up is more than an album — it’s a movement. Inspired by the revolutionary spirits of Steve Biko, Kwame Nkrumah, and Zambia’s own founding father Kenneth Kaunda (KK), the project reflects on the legacy of African freedom fighters past and present, including tributes to Thomas Sankara and other icons of resistance and change. Through thought-provoking lyrics and authentic storytelling, JD Sibanji revives the art of message-driven hip hop, while infusing Afrobeat energy that’s unmistakably modern and proudly African.

Rapping in both his native mother tongue and English, JD Sibanji brings a fresh voice and rhythmic style that bridges generations and geographies. Each track on Rise Up is a call for unity, identity, and resilience — a musical reminder of Africa’s strength and struggle.
